The follow-up text
The one text your campaign line sends after each delivered voicemail, included with the voicemail's credit. Who gets it, when it goes, how to write it in the builder, and the footer it always carries.
After each delivered voicemail, your campaign line can send that person one text from the same campaign. It goes to mobiles only, about 7 minutes after the voicemail lands, and it is included with the voicemail's credit. Replies come back to your Inbox.
Before you start
You need a campaign line with an active number. See Get a number.
Your Sender details must be saved: your legal business name and mailing address. See Sender details.
Each campaign confirms its people's consent when you sign it. See Rules for follow-up texts.
What it costs
One follow-up text rides every delivered voicemail at no extra charge. The voicemail's credit covers it. See How credits work.
Replies, and the conversation after them, cost nothing.
Each delivered voicemail gets one follow-up text at most, never a second.
Who gets a text, and when
Delivered voicemails only. A voicemail that came back gets no text.
Mobiles only. A landline is skipped. A number your list does not mark as a mobile or a landline is checked with the carrier first.
Not to someone who reached you first. A person who already called your line back, or already texted it, gets no follow-up text.
Not to anyone who opted out. See Opt-outs.
About 7 minutes after delivery, and only between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. in the time zone the campaign runs on (your business's time zone), every day. A text that falls outside those hours waits for 9 a.m.
From your campaign line. When a campaign's voicemails show one of your line's numbers, its texts go out from that same number.
Write the text for a campaign
You write the text in the campaign builder, in the same step as Campaign line and Callbacks ring. The builder article covers that step in full: Build a campaign.
Find the switch Send the follow-up text. On a campaign whose line can send it, it starts on.
What you see
under the switch, "Mobiles only, about seven minutes after a delivered voicemail, from your campaign line.", then a line that says one text is included with the voicemail and replies cost nothing. A line under it says how many texts the campaign can send at most, from your list's phone types.
Write your words in Follow-up text. It starts from your voicemail's script. Write it from the voicemail puts that draft back.
To use a detail from your list, select Add a detail to the text. Besides your list's columns, it offers Your business and Your campaign line.
Under Language, choose English or Français.
What you see
under the box, the characters used out of 220. Under that, "Your sender details and “Reply STOP” are added for you." With the assistant on, Suggest a text from my script opens the assistant beside the builder with three texts drawn from your voicemail; Use on one puts it in the box. Nothing is sent.
You confirm the list's consent when you sign the campaign on Review. Without permission to text, switch the text off.
Your words can be up to 220 characters, or a little fewer when your sender details are long, so the whole text always fits.
A detail your list does not hold is flagged under the box, and the campaign cannot be submitted until you fix it, as with the voicemail's script. See Merge fields.
A link shortener, a link or an unusual character each gets a warning under the box.
When the builder says the text cannot go
The reason shows under the switch:
"A text is sent from a campaign line." with Set yours up, when you have no line.
"Your campaign line is not active, so no text can be sent from it.", when the line is paused or still being set up.
"A text needs your sender details, the legal name and the mailing address." with Add them in your line's settings.
The footer every text carries
The line adds a footer after your words, so you never type it:
your business name, from your business profile;
your mailing address, from Sender details;
your campaign line's number (left out when your words already say it);
"Reply STOP to opt out." In a French text: "Répondez ARRET pour vous désabonner."
The footer carries no link and no Call Guy name. Your business signs its own text.
What happened to each text
A text has one of five words, the same on every page: Sending, Accepted by the carrier, No receipt, Not accepted and Not sent. The carrier accepting a text is the last thing the line can know, so no page says a text was delivered. Every follow-up text, with its word and its reason, is on the SMS delivery page under Delivery & recordings. See What became of each text.
Good to know
Texts today on your line shows how many texts went out today, out of the line's daily limit. Texts past the limit wait in the queue, and a text that waits too long is skipped rather than sent late.
A STOP from a person cancels every text still waiting for them.
Replies land in your Inbox. The first reply of a conversation can become a lead in your CRM: Send leads to your CRM.
Recipients are in Canada. See Across Canada.
