Rules for follow-up texts
Who a follow-up text may go to, when it goes, the reason you record for it, the footer every text carries, and how STOP works.
A follow-up text can go to a contact's mobile after their voicemail is delivered, from your campaign line. You are the sender, and we send it on your behalf, under the rules on this page.
Who gets a text
Only people on your list whose voicemail was delivered.
Mobiles only. A landline never gets one.
One text per voicemail, never a second.
Not someone who already called your campaign line back, or already texted it, before the text was due.
Not someone who opted out.
When it goes
7 minutes after the voicemail is delivered.
Only between 9 AM and 9 PM, every day of the week, on the campaign's time zone. A text due outside those hours waits for 9 AM the next morning.
Confirm their consent when you sign
Every campaign records that the people on its list gave your business express consent to be called and texted. You confirm it when you sign the campaign, and your business is responsible for that consent.
In the builder, open Review.
Under Sign to submit, read the line under the box: "Everyone on this list gave my business express consent to be called and texted, and my business is responsible for that consent."
Check the box and submit. The same box approves the script and confirms the consent.
Our terms on lists and consent, beside the box, opens the terms in a new tab. Without that consent, switch the text off on When, or leave those people off the list.
You confirm it again for every campaign you sign.
Your name on every text
Canadian law asks every marketing text to name its sender and give a way to stop. We add a footer to every text for you:
your business's name;
its mailing address, from your Sender details;
your campaign line's number, left out when the text already says it;
"Reply STOP to opt out." In French, "Répondez ARRET pour vous désabonner."
No text goes out while your sender details are missing. The When step says so under the switch: "A text needs your sender details, the legal name and the mailing address." See Sender details.
STOP ends everything
A person who texts STOP or ARRET to your campaign line is opted out of your texts and your voicemails at once, before anything else is sent. An automatic reply confirms it, in English and French.
Only a START text from them opts them back in.
Your team can opt a number out by hand: on Campaign line, open Calls and texts, then Opted-out numbers, then Opt a number out.
Replies only
Replies go to your Inbox, and your answers go out from the same number. The service never starts a cold text conversation.
Good to know
The follow-up text is included with the delivered voicemail's credit. Replies cost nothing.
A text is never called "delivered". The carrier tells us it accepted the text, and that is all it tells us.
The text speaks English or French. You choose under English or French on the When step.
