The Call Guy

Tone, pace and volume

Set how the voice reads your script under How it sounds, and what each of the three controls changes in the take today.

Three controls set how the voice reads your script: a tone, a pace and, for some voices, a volume. You set them once for the campaign, in the voice picker on the Voice and message step, and every contact's voicemail is read the same way.

Set how it sounds

  1. In the builder, go to Voice and message.

  2. Select the voice row. It shows the voice, the tone and the pace, and opens the picker.

  3. Under How it sounds, pick a tone: Warm, Upbeat, Calm, Neutral or Considerate.

  4. Set Pace: Relaxed, Natural or Brisk.

  5. If the picker shows Volume, set it: Softer, Normal or Louder.

  6. Select Done.

What you see

Under the tones and under Pace, a short line says what the current choice is for. Back on the step, the voice row reads the voice, the tone and the pace, and the volume when it is not Normal.

The picker lists the voices first. On a phone the controls sit further down: Tone, pace and volume are under How it sounds, under the list of voices, takes you to them.

Tone

ToneWhat the picker says
WarmFriendly and settled — the default.
UpbeatEnergy for sales events.
CalmEasy, unhurried, reassuring.
NeutralStraight professional read.
ConsiderateFor recalls and make-goods.

The tone tells the voice how to read your words. It is never read out.

Pace

PaceWhat the picker says
RelaxedA little slower: easy to catch a number or a name.
NaturalConversational, the way you'd say it on the phone.
BriskA touch quicker: energy without rushing.

The length estimate over the script follows the pace: Relaxed reads longer, Brisk shorter.

Volume

The picker's own advice: "A voicemail box evens out what it plays. Normal is right for almost every list."

Volume shows only for some older voices, the only ones it changes. A house voice, or a voice cloned now, has no Volume in the picker: its take plays at the same level.

Hear the difference

  1. In the preview, select Their phone.

  2. Select the play button to hear the take.

  3. Change the tone, pace or volume, and press play again. A new take is made with the new settings.

See Hear it before anyone else.

Good to know

  • The same settings read every contact's voicemail in the campaign.

  • Your script's own punctuation paces the read too.
