The Call Guy

Consent comes first

Every list rests on permission. What you confirm for each list, what you sign for each campaign, and how opt-outs are kept.

A campaign goes only to people who gave your business permission to hear from it. You confirm that permission for every list, and you sign every campaign before the team behind The Call Guy reviews it.

What the rule is

Your contact lists are yours, and so is the responsibility for them. Before a campaign can send, you confirm that you have the right to contact everyone on the list. That includes any consent the laws that apply to you require: in Canada, Canada's anti-spam law (CASL), the CRTC's telemarketing rules and the National Do Not Call List.

The terms of service also ask you to:

  • honour do-not-call and opt-out requests, and never add an opted-out number back to a list;

  • keep your script truthful, with your business named accurately;

  • upload only what the campaign needs, and no sensitive personal information.

Confirm your list's permission

Every list needs your confirmation before the campaign can move on.

  1. In the builder, open Audience and upload your list.

  2. Select Next until Review shows your contacts.

  3. Tick the box under the contacts: "These contacts have given the permission required to receive prerecorded voicemail messages from my business. I understand every campaign is compliance-checked before it goes out."

What you see

until the box is ticked, Next stays grey, and the bar beside it says "Tick the consent box under the contacts". Select those words to jump to the box.

  • A new file clears the tick. You confirm again for every list you upload.

  • The server refuses a campaign sent without this confirmation.

Sign the campaign

  1. Open Review, the builder's last step.

  2. Under Sign to submit, type your Full name and draw your Signature.

  3. Tick the box: "I approve this script and authorize The Call Guy to produce and deliver this campaign to my list on my behalf." When the campaign sends a follow-up text, the box reads "I approve this script and follow-up text and authorize The Call Guy to produce and deliver this campaign to my list on my behalf."

  4. Select Submit for review.

The campaign keeps the record of the sign-off: the sentence you agreed to, who signed, and when. Then a person on the team reviews it before anything is sent. See How the team reviews a campaign.

The permission you gave us

When you sign up, two boxes must be ticked before Create account works:

  • "I confirm I'm authorized to create this business account, campaign lists will contain the business's own customers or leads, and nothing sends until an authorized person approves it."

  • "Yes — The Call Guy may contact me at this number and email about my account and its services, by call, voicemail, text, and email, including automated messages and reminders. I can opt out anytime."

A teammate who accepts an invite ticks their own line: "Yes — The Call Guy may contact me by email about this workspace and its services, including automated messages and reminders. I can opt out anytime."

People who opted out

  • Anyone who texts STOP or ARRET to your campaign line is opted out of your account's voicemails and texts at once. Only a START text from them reopens the line.

  • Your team can opt a number out by hand: on Campaign line, open Calls and texts, then Opted-out numbers, then Opt a number out.

  • Before every send, an opted-out number still waiting is closed with "Opted out of messages from this business." It costs nothing.

  • A number the carrier refuses as on its Do Not Dial list is closed with "On the carrier's Do Not Dial list." and left out of your account's later campaigns.

  • Opt-outs are kept per account. Another business's list is never affected.

Good to know

  • You know your contacts and we don't. For a question about consent on your own list, ask the team. Nothing in these pages is legal advice.

  • When you sign a campaign, you confirm everyone on the list gave your business express consent to be called and texted. See Rules for follow-up texts.
