Delivered, returned and to go
The five words a voicemail can carry, what each one means, and why only a delivered voicemail spends a credit.
Every contact on a campaign's list ends with one word that says what became of their voicemail. Only one of those words, Delivered, spends a credit. This page explains each word and where you see it.
The five words
| Word | What it means | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| Delivered | The voicemail reached their voicemail box. | One credit. |
| Returned | The carrier could not deliver it. | None. Its credit comes back automatically. |
| Sent | The voicemail is with the carrier, and its receipt is on its way. | None yet. It becomes Delivered or Returned. |
| To go | The campaign is still sending and has not dialed this contact yet. | None yet. |
| Not sent | The campaign finished without dialing this contact. | None. |
A voicemail that came back is always called Returned, and it costs nothing.
How credits come out
Your campaign goes out. A voicemail is only handed to the carrier when your credits can cover it.
When a voicemail is delivered, one credit comes out of your balance on its own.
When a voicemail is returned, nothing is spent. Its credit comes back to your balance automatically.
Both message modes, a message for each lead and one take for everyone, spend credits the same way, from the same balance.
Credits last 12 months from purchase. What a campaign does not spend waits for the next one.
If your credits run short partway through, the rest of the list waits. Nothing is spent on it. See When credits run short.
How many are delivered
Delivery is never every number on a list: some voicemails cannot be left. ~75% of voicemails are delivered, measured across real campaigns. That is not a promise for any one list. Whatever the share, you pay only for the ones delivered.
Where you see the words
On a campaign's page. The Delivery card at the top shows the share delivered, then Delivered out of the list, Returned, credits came back, Waiting on a receipt while receipts are still out, and Left to send while the campaign sends (Not sent once it has ended). Under the card: "Only delivered voicemails spend credits", with how many returned went straight back to your balance. In People on it, each contact's Status reads Delivered, Returned, Sent, To go or Not sent, and the tabs All, Delivered, Returned and To go (while it sends) show one word at a time. See A campaign's page.
In Voicemail drops. Every voicemail across your campaigns, each with its word, and a Status filter to show one word at a time. See Every voicemail, and what each person heard.
In the campaign's export. Each contact's Result reads Delivered, Returned or Waiting on the carrier. For a returned voicemail, Reason holds the reason the carrier gave.
What you see
a returned voicemail's row shows the carrier's reason beside the name when there is one, or "No voicemail available". Open it and its steps end on Returned, followed by "No credit was used." On a campaign's page, the contact's panel says Returned: with the reason and "No credit was used." A delivered one says Delivered:, that the voicemail landed in their inbox, and "One credit was used."
Good to know
While a campaign is still sending, a voicemail waiting on the carrier's receipt reads Sent, not Returned. On the campaigns list, the returned total says Final once sending ends while a campaign in it still sends.
A returned voicemail has no recording to play. Its panel says "This voicemail came back, so there is nothing to hear."
A returned voicemail gets no follow-up text. Only a delivered voicemail can be followed by one. See What became of each follow-up text.
